TornTab · bill splitter
Split the bill, skip the group chat.
Type the total. TornTab does the maths and shows who owes what — no accounts, no invites, and the other people at dinner never have to install anything.
Entering a bill
Type the total. Done.
A new bill arrives pre-filled with your usual head count — so the common case is: total in, save, phone away. Names are optional; leave them blank and TornTab labels people for you.
The split is equal and exact to the cent — leftover cents are distributed deterministically, so the shares always add up to the bill. The number you actually came for, each person pays, sits at the top in large type.
Settling up
It keeps the running score.
Every bill feeds one number: your overall net position — who owes you, what you owe, per person, across every bill. Tap a name to see exactly which dinners and taxis are behind it.
When someone pays you back, mark them paid and they quietly drop out of the total. No spreadsheet, no scrolling the chat to find out whether anyone ever got the taxi.
The quiet part
Built the Quiet Photon way
Local-first.
Bills live on your phone, not on a server. Works in aeroplane mode; works in the kind of basement restaurant that splits bills badly and blocks reception.
Any currency.
Every bill can carry its own currency, and totals convert using cached exchange rates — offline, so holiday maths doesn't wait for roaming.
No accounts.
Nobody signs up for anything. You don't, and — the good part — neither does anyone else at the table. One phone does the maths for the whole group.
Launching on iOS and Android.
TornTab is in the final stretch before release. If you'd like a nudge when it ships, say hello and we'll send exactly one email.
We considered linking the badges before the store pages exist, but we're a physics studio — causality matters. hello@quietphoton.com
